The combination of factors available in India makes it relatively easy to build digital infrastructure. India has created its digital infrastructure in a unique fashion using taxpayer money to tap into the country's rich technical talent base and apply innovation on a big population. India Stack has capabilities beyond payments in credit and insurance that can open up new fintech markets. The second-largest startup ecosystem in the world will morph into a key exporter in the digital economy riding on India Stack that allows them to test business strategies on population scale. This provision of infra is expected to ease the path for export of a wave of innovation that is building on these public services. India is offering its stack of digital public goods that involve identity, data and payments free to other nations. It has also found votaries among Big Tech, with Google showcasing the system's ingenuity and robustness. The scale of transactions being conducted on UPI, and the pace of its adoption at home, offer a riveting export pitch. India is in the process of finalising similar linkages with over a dozen countries for digital payments, and its infrastructure is on offer as a template to countries that are developing their own virtual payments systems. This will lower the cost of remittances to the world's largest recipient and serve as a prototype for export of other parts of the India Stack of digital infrastructure. The linking of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Singapore's PayNow is a landmark in cross-border e-wallet transactions.
